Vidagua is a U.S. based, non-profit organization that focuses on delivering clean drinking water to schools, homeless shelters in the United States and in impoverished communities in developing countries.
Vidagua is based on the promise that water is life. It translates from Spanish words of agua (water) and vida (life) and is based on a principle that water is at the core of sustainable human development and is critical for socio-economic and human survival. In a nutshell, safe drinking water is vital for healthy life.
Indeed many cities in America have lead in drinking water which, in some cases, has poisoned children. A few years ago, the city of Flint, Michigan, burst into the news after children were exposed to lead water. Similar incidents happened in other cities. This prompted the founding of The Vidagua Foundation.
Vidagua’s mission also extends to developing countries where it builds wells for safe drinking waters in underprivileged rural communities in Africa, Latin and Central America, the Caribbean and beyond. Vidagua thus contributes to improving health, welfare and productivity of the populations in the countries it works.
Vidagua delivers its services through a partnership of professional staff, volunteers and other community supporters in the United States and abroad.
